CURRENT POINTS OF INTEREST AND IMPORTANT NOTICES

PEINU is the host of Eastern Labour School this year, June 10-12, 2012. Approximately 30 volunteers are needed for either a half day or full day in various areas in order to execute a successful event. Volunteers will have all meals and social events included, a t-shirt and transportation costs (mileage) reimbursed. If interested, please contact the PEINU office.

Deadline for Proposed Amendments to the Constitution and/or Resolutions: In accordance with Article 15.05 of the By-Laws, proposed amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws must be submitted to the PEINU Office (attention Constitution and Resolutions Committee) no later than 90 days prior to the AGM, making Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 4 p.m. the deadline.

Resolutions should also be submitted no later than Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 4 p.m., the deadline in accordance with the same Article. Resolutions may be submitted after the deadline noted above but shall only be considered on a 2/3 vote by the membership in attendance at the AGM, in accordance with Article 15.07 of the By-Laws. Amendments and/or Resolutions can be faxed to the PEINU office at (902) 892-9324.

NOMINATIONS for the offices of President and Treasurer must be submitted no later than 4:00 pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2012. A copy of the PEINU Nomination Form is available uder the "Membership Resources" and "Forms" section of the website. Please fax, mail or hand deliver nomination forms to the attention of:

Each year at the Annual General Meeting, the PEINU recognizes a member who has, during her/his nursing career, made valuable and significant contributions to the Nursing profession through involvement in the Union. The award is named in honour of former PEINU Executive Director, Betty MacFadyen. Nominations for this award can be submitted to the PEINU office. Please click here to download a nomination form or contact the PEINU office for a copy. The deadline for nominations is April 30, 2012. The award will be presented at the AGM on May 14, 2012.

Student Scholarship Fund: The PEINU and the CFNU are pleased to support an annual bursary in the amount of $1,000 to be granted to a 3rd year UPEI nursing student or 2nd year nursing student in the Accelerated Program. For a copy of the CFNU bursary and guidelines, please click here.
