New Brunswick Nurses’ Union (NBNU) will be hosting the 2026 Eastern Labour School (ELS), May 31 – June 2, 2026 at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and PEINU is currently collecting expressions of interest for PEINU members to attend.
What is Eastern Labour School?
The Eastern Labour School is a three-day event bringing together members from across all four of Atlantic Canada’s provincial unions to strengthen our union knowledge, leadership skills and advocacy efforts. The program includes engaging courses, interactive workshops and collaborative discussions to navigate the workplace, promote solidarity, and advance the nursing profession. Cost and Sponsorship Opportunity
The Cost to attend is $400 per Union member. This fee covers your cost of meals, social events, accommodations and course instruction. This cost is not covered by the Ed Fund.
As per PEINU policy: “The Union shall endeavor to sponsor Council Members and at least three (3) members-at-large (non-Council, one from each county) to attend Eastern Labour School. The decision on delegation size will be based on the provincial budget.”
The successful applicants receiving sponsorship will be contacted before April 1, 2026. On the morning of April 1st, course registration will open with limited availability for select courses.
PEINU has reserved a bus for providing transportation to Fredericton for our PEI delegation for the event. There will be a pickup at the PEINU provincial office and then another in Borden-Carleton.
