Constitution Amendments Submission Deadline

January 24, 2025

Dear PEINU Members,

In accordance with our Constitution and Bylaws, the PEINU Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on April 30 and May 1, 2025, at the Murchison Centre in Charlottetown. This meeting serves as a valuable opportunity for members to engage in the decision-making processes of our organization.

As an essential part of the PEINU democratic process, we encourage active participation from all members in shaping the future direction of our organization. If you have any constitutional amendments you would like to propose, please take note of the following.

The deadline to submit a Constitution amendment is January 30th, 2024 and the form can be found here: https://peinu.com/forms/constitutional-amendment-form/

Section 12 – Amendments & Waiver of Constitution and Bylaws: In preparation for the AGM, we would like to draw your attention to Section 12 of the PEINU Constitution and Bylaws, which governs the process for amendments:

  • 12.01 Amendments Submission: Throughout the year and up to ninety (90) days prior to the date of the AGM, Constitution and By-Law amendments and resolutions may be submitted in writing to the Constitution and Resolutions Committee. Submissions must align with the relevant policies of the Union.
  • 12.02 Advance Notice: Members shall be provided with the details of any proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws at least thirty (30) days in advance of an AGM or Special Meeting. This timeframe allows for thorough review and consideration by our members.
  • 12.03 Voting on Proposed Amendments at AGM: The Constitution and Bylaws may be amended when a majority of the membership attending an AGM vote in favor of the proposed amendment(s).

The full version of the Constitution and Bylaws can be found HERE.

Please stay tuned for further communication regarding the AGM agenda and any proposed amendments. If you have any questions or require additional information, feel free to contact the PEINU office.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to the Prince Edward Island Nurses’ Union.

Regards,

Barbara Brookins
