Guidelines for The Kathleen Connors Rural and Remote Bursary
The Kathleen Connors Rural and Remote Bursary was established to support nurses working in rural communities who are pursuing university-level nursing education. Open to nurses at any stage of their career, this bursary reflects a commitment to strengthening healthcare in underserved areas through continued professional development.
Any nursing student who is from, and plans to work in, rural communities may apply for a $1,000.00 Kathleen Connors Rural and Remote Bursary.
Applications must be received by the PEINU provincial office no later than October 31st of each year. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
Applications may be reviewed by the Executive of the Union. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received this bursary.
Only the successful applicant will be notified.
Criteria for Eligibility:
To qualify for The Kathleen Connors Rural and Remote Bursary, the applicant must:
- Be from a rural community in Prince Edward Island;
- Plan to work in a rural community in Prince Edward Island;
- Be enrolled in a university-level nursing program (undergraduate or graduate) and provide proof of enrollment;
- Not have received funding from the PEINU Education Fund for the same courses.
- Submit a completed application form, together with a one thousand (1000) word essay on the value of being a member of a union.
