Dear PEINU Members,
As you know, our previous Collective Agreement expired on March 31, 2025, and we began bargaining for a new Collective Agreement on June 24, 2025. After our 32nd day at the bargaining table today, we feel there has been no meaningful movement since our previous bargaining dates and we felt we had no choice but to walk away from the bargaining table.
On August 19th, 2026, PEINU’s bargaining team provided an offer that highlighted our members’ highest priority items. Despite that, we feel as though we have been continuously expected to bargain against ourselves and whittle down our offer without receiving any meaningful formal counterproposals from the Employer.
We have not been able to reach an agreement on the issues that you, our members, have asked us to bargain on your behalf, such as:
- Payrates reflective of new classifications
- Nurse practitioner wages
- Call groups and panel policy
- Retention and overtime incentives for hard to recruit and full-time work
- RN prescribing
- Shift premiums
At this point, we no longer feel that spending more time negotiating will be beneficial, and we have announced to the Employer our intention to walk away from the bargaining table.
What does this mean for you as members?
This means that as a bargaining team we are staying strong on what you, our members, have told us is a priority, and we will not back down until we have an agreement that meets your needs and expectations as members of PEINU.
What happens next?
This is a recent development, but we felt it was important to inform you as members as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates in the coming weeks as we move forward throughout the next steps in the process.
