New!  Incentives for filling ‘Known Vacancies’

PEINU has signed (2) new MOAs with Health PEI

Dear PEINU Members,

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you regarding incentives for extra shifts over the summer months. However, before delving into the details, I want to emphasize the collaborative nature of our efforts and the respect we hold for our colleagues across the healthcare system.

We look forward to seeing the agreements being negotiated between the employer and our union counterparts. While the terms of our agreements may vary from the agreements being negotiated by the other unions, we are optimistic that they will address the unique needs and interests of our respective memberships. The efforts of our union counterparts and the members they represent are equally important in ensuring fair and equitable conditions for all healthcare professionals.

Now, onto the exciting news for you, our members!

As a result of ongoing efforts and negotiations, we have signed two (2) new agreements with Health PEI. One of the agreements will offer incentives for those willing to work extra shifts on Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Statutory Holidays over the summer. The other agreement expands upon the premium that was announced last month, offering an incentive to members who are willing to fill “Critical Shifts”. The details of the agreements are outlined in the Memorandums of Agreements that are published with this letter. Additional information (including the Health PEI ‘FAQ’) will be available next week.

These agreements underscore the importance of addressing the specific challenges faced by our bargaining unit; filling the known vacancies and maintaining safe staffing levels.

I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Provincial & Executive Council members for their dedication to advocating on behalf of PEINU Members. I hope this will be a welcome update for members, managers, and union representatives alike.

Sincerely,

Barbara Brookins, RN, BN
PEINU President
