Dear Members,
The Union and the Employer are aware of the issues with the implementation of the new collective agreement as it relates to your compensation.
At this time, we can provide the following updates:
- The increased Wage Rates for Steps 1-6 have been implemented successfully but there are several outstanding issues to be addressed in the coming weeks.
- Payroll is currently working to implement the new rates and premiums/incentives that were not included on this pay. We are awaiting confirmation from the employer that the process/system issues have been resolved and ‘when‘ you can expect to see the new rates/premiums applied. In the meantime, we have been reassured that the following incentives will be applied retroactively to the Date of Signing of the new collective agreement as originally planned:
- Increases to the Evenings/Nights/Weekends and Standby Premiums
- Experienced RN/NP Wage Rates (10 & 15 Years)
- Designated Unit Premiums
- Full-Time Incentives
- The Mentorship Premium will be paid retroactively to June 1st according to the terms of the MOA.
No action or follow-up is required by Members who are eligible for the Premiums and Experienced RN/NP rate increases as of the Date of Signing.
This is a widespread issue for PEINU Members that is being addressed by the employer and followed closely by the Union. Accordingly, we would ask you to hold onto any questions/concerns until the Employer has completed the implementation process en masse.
At that point, we will be better able to address any cases where individual Members may continue to experience payroll issues.
We will continue to monitor the implementation process and will provide further updates to you as new information becomes available.
Thank you for your ongoing engagement and patience as we navigate this process.
Sincerely,
Barbara Brookins, RN
PEINU President
Please Note: Any member who was previously registered as an RN/NP in another province, or becomes eligible for the 10 & 15 Year rates after July 1st, must still provide notice to the Employer on the appropriate form when they become eligible for the new experienced RN/NP wage rates.
