Update for PEINU Members about the Classification Review

November 18, 2024

Update for PEINU Members about the Classification Review

Health PEI & PEINU have issued the following letter to PEINU Members as a follow-up to the March 4th letter regarding the commitment of the parties to conduct a classification review:

(The PDF copy of the letter quoted below is included at the bottom of this post.)

“Dear PEINU Members,

We want to provide you with an important update regarding the classification review process for our nursing positions.

As you are aware, we faced some delays due to changes in Health PEI’s senior leadership team and within the HR Department. However, we are pleased to inform you that the parties have resumed meetings concerning the reclassifications.

Our primary focus is to establish a comprehensive framework for the review of RN classifications. Once this framework is in place, we will actively seek feedback from both our members and operational leaders before finalizing the new classifications of bargaining unit positions. We fully understand the frustration that the ongoing uncertainty has caused, and we regret that we were unable to meet our initial goal of completing this work before the summer.

We sincerely appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this process. We recognize the importance of having this information before we engage in the collective bargaining process and are committed to keeping you informed as we move forward.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.

Sincerely,

Barbara Brookins, President, PEINU & Maura MacKinnon, Interim CHRO, Health PEI”
